Children's Cold and Flu Care

Most coughs and colds in children clear up within a week or two without antibiotics. Offer plenty of fluids and rest, use saline drops for a blocked nose, and give paracetamol or ibuprofen at the correct weight-based dose for fever or discomfort. Avoid over-the-counter cough and cold medicines in young children. Seek care if your child has fast or difficult breathing, refuses fluids, or the fever persists beyond a few days.
